Posted on: December 31, 2023

As we turn the page on 2023, it's a perfect time for us at Diverse Patterns to reflect on the incredible journey we've had over the past year. Filled with diverse projects and collaborations, 2023 was a year where we not only achieved significant milestones but also strengthened our commitment to creating positive social impact. Here's a look back at some of the key projects that defined our year.

GESI Training Manual with the British Council, Nepal Our collaboration with the British Council in Nepal marked the beginning of 2023. We developed a comprehensive Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) training manual. This resource aimed to foster a deeper understanding of gender and social issues, playing a pivotal role in promoting inclusivity in various sectors across Nepal.

Online Course Development for IREX, USA One of our major accomplishments was the 6-week online course we developed for IREX in the USA. This course, focusing on Project Management and Policy and Advocacy for Social Impact, not only enhanced skills but also sparked conversations around important social issues. Our role as Lead Course Developer allowed us to integrate practical insights and real-world scenarios, making the course both informative and engaging.

Advocacy Brief with CDS Park, Nepal In collaboration with CDS Park, Nepal, we focused on an advocacy brief concerning the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This vital project highlighted the challenges and barriers faced by individuals with disabilities, advocating for their rights and greater inclusivity in health services.

Individualized Education Plan MIS with National Federation of the Deaf, Nepal and Sense India Working closely with the National Federation of the Deaf, Nepal, and Sense India, we developed an Individualized Education Plan Management Information System. This system aims to support educators and professionals in creating personalized and effective education plans for deaf students, ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of education.

National Survey with Handicap International and Sense India Our partnership with Handicap International and Sense India led us to conduct a National Survey on the Understanding of Inclusive Education by Organizations of Persons with Disabilities. This survey provided valuable insights into current perceptions and practices, guiding future strategies for inclusive education.

Early Child Development and Education Portal In collaboration with Handicap International, Nepal, CEHRD, and UNICEF, we played a key role in developing an Early Child Development and Education Portal. This digital platform serves as a rich resource for early childhood education, emphasizing inclusive practices and approaches.

Toolkit for Inclusive Arts and Cultural Events Teaming up with the British Council, Nepal, we developed a Toolkit for Inclusive Arts and Cultural Events. This toolkit serves as a guideline for organizing events that are accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their abilities.

Scoping Research with Sense International Our research on Inclusive Education Strategies and the Current Situation of Children with Deaf Blindness in Nepal, in partnership with Sense International, shed light on the specific needs and challenges faced by children with deaf-blindness. This research is a step towards more inclusive education policies and practices.

Training for UN Special Rapporteur Team Finally, we had the privilege of conducting training on Disability Inclusion for the team of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights Defender, led by Mary Lawlor. This training was crucial in raising awareness and understanding of disability rights within the context of human rights defense.

As we bid adieu to a remarkable 2023, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our clients, partners, and supporters. Your trust and collaboration have been the driving forces behind our success.

As we welcome 2024, we remain committed to our mission of fostering inclusive and impactful change. Happy New Year to all, and here’s to a 2024 filled with more achievements and collaborative successes!
