Our Objective

"The project aimed to build capacity in digital accessibility and disability-inclusive development for CMC Nepal's Karnali Earthquake Recovery (KER) Project. The primary goal was to train CMC Nepal team members on digital accessibility principles so they could create digital documents accessible to people with disabilities. Additionally, the project provided disability-inclusive development training to local disability coordination committees in Barekot, Nalgaad, and Khalanga of Jajarkot District."

Project Overview

The Diverse Patterns team conducted comprehensive training on digital accessibility and disability-inclusive development (DID) for CMC Nepal’s Karnali Earthquake Recovery Project in Surkhet and Jhajarkot districts of Nepal. This capacity-building initiative was designed to strengthen the skills of CMC Nepal team members and local stakeholders in creating inclusive digital content and implementing disability-inclusive practices in earthquake recovery efforts.

The project focused on two main areas of training. First, digital accessibility training was provided to CMC Nepal team members to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to create digital documents that are accessible to people with disabilities. This training aimed to ensure that digital communications and materials produced by the earthquake recovery project would be inclusive and usable by all beneficiaries, regardless of their abilities.

Second, disability-inclusive development training was delivered to local disability coordination committees in three locations: Barekot, Nalgaad, and Khalanga of Jajarkot District. This training strengthened local capacity to integrate disability inclusion principles into earthquake recovery and development activities at the community level.

In total, four training sessions were conducted across the two districts during the two-month project period. The training was led by two experts: Sagar Prasai, who served as the Digital Accessibility Expert, and Maheshwar Ghimire, who served as the Expert Training Consultant.
